Durarara Book 7 Part 1
Okies so i started re-reading book 7 so I can summarize it properly.
Here's a quick partial summary + partial translations of Book 7, while we wait for Anni to come back from his hiatus.
Please note that I'm translating this from Korean to English. This is in no way anywhere definitive. This is just to tie people over while Anni translates book 9, so that we have something in between for those missing gaps (so it's easier to understand book 9? something along that line)
The problem i run into about Narita is that... all his sentences are important. There's not a single wasteful sentence at all. Not to mention one line can hold several different deeper meanings. I'll try my best but again, don't use my translations as something definitive. I'm sure someone else can do a much better job (I.E. Anni rofl)

- May 5, Tohoku Region in some hospital -
http://anni-fiesta.livejournal.com/22439.html -- anni has finished translating this part. Mainly Izaya is waiting at the hospital excited, waiting to see who will come visit him out of all his enemies. And when he finally sees the visitor, he can't recognize her and is a bit disappointed.
There's a mention of Yadogiri Jinnai being someone who can possibly shift his facial form. it also mentions that he's not someone easily caught even with police + Awakusu kai chasing after him.
There's also a mention that the police could have found Izaya's knife in his 'secret pocket' inside his jacket, (t/n: I found this part interesting) which is why they keep a guarded look when they question Izaya.
I also found it amusing that Izaya kept thinking 'back' to a certain bartender at the thought of his 'knife' (t/n: the knife was totally unrelated to Shizuo, but on tangent line of thought, Izaya thought of shizuo yet again. i swear Izaya thinks of Shizuo at least once a day, if not several times a day considering every time Izaya talks, there's always at least one mention of Shizuo somewhere)

May 5 Morning, Shinjuku somewhere
quick book 6 spoiler
(Quick summary of why Izaya and Namie are in hiding, which happened in Book 6. They are hiding from Shizuo (and also possibly the Awakusu), while Shizuo is framed for the murder of Awakusu Kai members. Shizuo had gone to 'visit' Izaya when Akane finally told him that 'Izaya' had told her that Shizuo was going to kill all her family, which is why Akane had ran away from home and had tried to murder Shizuo several times with a stun gun, which was modified by Izaya/Namie to kill even an elephant. (but did almost no damage to Shizuo) And if I'm correct, Izaya actually did not kill the Awakusu kai members. He knew that they were going to be killed so he purposefully sent Shizuo there (basically leaving a note saying Izaya had 'moved' to a new office) so that Shizuo could be framed for murder. )
Namie mumbles to herself that Izaya did not came back home last night. She takes a sip of the hot pot and is happy that it tastes pretty good, and wonders if she should send some to Seiji.
She sits and flips through the T.V. and it's mentioned that she has not even been in this room for more than 50 hours. (so izaya and namie have been in hiding in this place for 2 days or so) It is also mentioned that Izaya had promised Namie that he will call every night at least once. But this time, he had not.
Namie thinks to herself, "That guy, when it's important he always does something stupid. I wonder if he got captured and killed by the bartender-kun."
Finally while flipping through the channel, she hears that Orihara Izaya, from Tokyo, had got his stomach slit and is in the hospital.
Namie goes "Heeeh~" at the words "serious condition." she also notes that even though there was no picture of Izaya, there aren't many who spells Izaya with 臨也 and said as 'Izaya' so she's pretty sure it's him.
She mumbles 'So he got stabbed.' and checks other stations. There are no other news so she shrugs it off thinking 'well it wouldn't be a worldwide news if they just thought it was a local street gang fight' and adds 'well it's not exactly incorrect either in that regards.'
And here it's said that Namie's phone number is saved as a PIZZA SHOP in Izaya's cell phone. That way, even if someone else got his cell and tried to track down his list of close people, Namie would be mostly safe. (t/n: that was pretty cunning)
Then Namie's apathy turns to slight concern as she realizes, it could be a problem if Izaya ends up murdered. He was sent to a hospital near the stabbing incident. She realized it was very possible that whoever had tried to stab him, could try again at the hospital. (t/n: rofl she's smart)
Then with a serious expression, Namie says, "Oh well... I guess I'll decide that from today onward and for awhile, I'm on vacation." (t/n: pffff)
After determining that she puts on 'ah who cares' attitude and stretches. she turns off the stove and starts day dreaming about Seiji.
Page 36 - 37
May 6, Ikebukuro at a certain apartment. (T/N: I'm wondering if this is a typo. Why it says May 6 instead of May 5, i don't know. it would make more sense if this was May 5 but...)
Mika says "Good morning! Seiji!" in a voice that spoke of zero worries and believed that the world is on her side. Hearing that voice, Seiji would smile lightly and say "Good morning, Mika."
Seiji is wearing casual clothes but at one glance one can tell he is in high school. And though Mika looks young (and also explained that she doesn't have a face of a Japanese, and also she looked like she popped out of an art) the general feel of the couple felt as if they were adults.
But that was only if Mika kept her mouth shut. (looking like adults)
"Where are you going? Anywhere Seiji goes, I'll love it!"
Though that voice sounded innocent, so rare even among new couples, they have been going out for more than a year. Her eyes were filled with love and hope. Though she gazed at him intensely, he took it all in calmly.
"How about... we go watch a movie." And seiji would put his arm around her shoulders.
Page 38-45
Here you see Namie meeting with the Orihara twins. The twins comes back to report to Namie every time they meet Seiji on chance and tell her everything they see.
May 5 afternoon at a tea house
Inside the elegant tea house, there's a sudden burst of exuberant and energetic voice of a high school girl. Mairu is saying how Harima-senpai (Mika) was all over Yagiri-senpai (SEiji) and Yagiri-senpai was 'hey, hey, it's hard to walk.' but didn't look like he didn't hate it. They looked as if even to their death, they'd never separate.
Kururi adds, it was very lovey dovey.
Namie stays silent as she listens while Mairu (and Kururi) keeps on talking. It was a foreboding silence, and finally Mairu (with the glasses) ask, "... Namie onee-san?" (t/n: this is how she speaks to her in Korean. I am not sure how she would say in Japanese)
Namie says, "It is nothing. Orihara Kururi and Orihara Mairu, please do continue."
And Mairu says, "being called by full name, it's kinda scary, onee-san?"
Kururi adds, "....scary..."
They both realized some sort of storm was brewing in front of them. But even in the face of the cold fear, Mairu put on a professional smile and continued to talk about the movie Mika/Seiji had gone to watch, which is "Vampire Ninja Kamila Saizo's Beginning!" (featuring of course, Kasuka) and wonders out loud if they're still watching it.
Kururi adds it will end in 10 minutes.
Namie thanks them and gives them a card as payment. The password was 0164. And it held 300,000 yen (t/n: approximately $3,000. probably less due to terrible exchange rate lately.)
Mairu says in apologetic yet curious voice, "Last time too, i have thought of this, but is it alright that we receive this much money? I mean all we are saying is whatever we saw and only when it happens by coincidence."
And Namie replis, "How foolish, the fact that you know anything about Seiji is an act that can't be calculated by monetary values. Besides I have calculated the payment equivalent to how much I am paid by your brother so do not worry."
Then the two twins whisper to each other, "Then Iza-nii really must give huge salary to Namie onee-san." "... first (first time hiring someone)... not know (so he may not know how much to pay her)" (T/N: LET ME FANGIRL A MOMENT HERE AS IZANAMIE FAN rofl... So Namie is the first person Izaya had ever hired to work for him personally and pay in salary. I know Izaya has a lot of 'free agents' such as Kida or other street informants but Namie is different from them. :3 )
Namie of course hears this and boldly says, "I believe I have worked more than worthy of my own salary." (T/N: she also says something about the Orihara family but the translation is very unusual. I'd wait for anni before i try to figure out what Namie is trying to say. it's very mismatched. It's just a one-liner so shouldn't be too big of a deal. Basically saying it's a hard work to keep up with the uncanny Orihara family)
Namie then asks if the twins want to know anything about Orihara Izaya.
Mairu says, "Aah, Iza-nii. I heard he got stabbed by someone?"
Kururi adds, "... morning ... police... called..."
Mairu adds "Since our parents are out abroad, the police contacted us. I just said, 'ah no biggie, it'll heal if you spit on it.' and got yelled by the police lady."
"... of course..." kururi admonishes her sister. But even in her face, she didn't show 'worry' or 'anxiety' that someone in their family got stabbed.
It was as if to them, their brother's existence wasn't a big deal. (T/N: that's the exact words of Narita in the book. It is hinted it could mean that's what Namie thought, though it is not directly said.)
Seeing that the sisters don't seem to care much about the topic of their family, she switches the subject. She asks what Seiji calls Mika. Mairu says, "Well he calls her plainly 'Mika.' Harima-senpai usually speaks in her unusual formal language to others but to Yagiri-senpai, she speaks to him comfortably and plainly. I heard from another senpai that they decided to drop the formal speech as an 1 year anniversary."
Then Namie cracks the coffee cup in her hand in anger. and mutters coldly, "Seiji... had never called me... by my name...."
