How I feel about this character
- I will try NOT to write a long essay. I love this man. I think I can relate with Shizuo and Kida the most. My personality is very much like Kida but I can relate with Shizuo’s self hatred. The man truly hates himself, his own strength as well as his weakness, the inability to protect those he loves despite the grotesque strength of his. You’d think with supernatural power, you’d be stronger, but no. Shizuo learned early on that his physical strength was more a curse to him. Instead of protecting, he hurts the ones he loves, and he grows insecure, hiding in his inner shell, worried that he would hurt another person he loves in the future. Because of this, he’s too scared to come out of his shell and love someone. I find this trait of his endearing. He’s growing in the novels of course, and watching him grow makes me cry sometimes. I do hope that he does grow ‘stronger’ and gain enough courage to find love. And from what it looks like, it might be Vorona who might help him with that, since she’s not scared of him. (granted, Vorona also has her own problems to fix before she helps out Shizuo. Though Shizuo, by helping out Vorona might find himself too)

I do like Shizuo x Vorona, it’d probably be my 3rd fav pairing but my NUMBER ONE PAIRING IS SHIZUO X IZAYA!!!! (Shiki x izaya being my 2nd) Omg… Yes I KNOOOooow it’s not possible in canon but~ just…. can’t … help it…. I know people will go ‘oh it’s just love hate relationship’ but there’s MORE to it then that for this pair. Especially since Izaya’s personality is really NOT UKE at all. So they clash in such an interesting way! And their banter is so chaotic and STRONG. It’s really hard to write them sometimes, always fighting and fighting but making them grow closer through their fights… it’s almost like a battle manga to me :P
So I ship Shizuo with Izaya, Vorona, a bit of Tom and a bit of Akane. Sometimes Anri/Saika too 8D what a hot pairing fufufu…

I guess maaaybe Kasuka. I love their bromance. I love incest but strangely i’m not into Heiwajimacest. I think Kasuka and Tom are like a sheath to Shizuo while Izaya is the catalyst.

How I feel about this character
Hmmmm I find Psyche very boring character. I know this surprises most ppl and probably should be an unpopular opinion lol. The guy is bubbly and cute, and in some cases, extremely yandere. If there wasn’t the yandere characteristics, he’d be very one dimensional character. I DO like writing about him in fanfics despite this, because his naivety is a good trait as catalyst for story plot :P

I guess Tsugaru is who most ppl ship him with. I like Psyche with Delic the most. And Izaya and Shizuo as well. I don’t ship psyche with Hibiya or Shitsuo out of all the shizaya alt. characters.

How I feel about this character
I think out of all the alternate characters, Delic is the most amusing character to explore. He’s a pervert and flamboyant. He flaunts and acts as if he’s in control but deep inside, I feel that he’s got issues and is very insecure guy. Writing him is probably the most entertaining for me out of all the alternate characters I’ve written. Delic and Roppi so far since they have more than one side to their personality :3

Hibiya obviously. And Psyche. But my number one fav Delic with Izaya. It’s probably the hottest pairing next to Shizaya in my head. I also ship Delic with Tsugaru and Shizuo in threesomes.

How I feel about this character
Simon is a very badass character and underappreciated. The fact that there’s only TWO people who can stop Shizuo and that one of them is Simon speaks a lot. (second being shishizaki) Shizuo also defeated characters from Bacanno or Vamps (I forget which) and is said that Shizuo might be the strongest character in Narita’s world…. I can’t really go into how much I love Simon without spoiling the novel, but I do try to have Simon in my fanfics very often. (lol I enjoy writing bad Engrish too) There’s more to Simon then meets the eye.

How I feel about this character
I LOVE THIS MAN! Technically he’s exaaaactly the type of character I love in anime, cold, stern, quiet, strict, to the point, direct, and BADASS. (Like KHR’s Hibari.) People tend to dismiss him because he’s OLD but seriously, if he was 10 years younger, I bet everyone would SWARM all over him. Think about it, he’s in YAKUZA and is one of the leader. And the smartest kanbu of them all. Well for me, age doesn’t matter, I might even like him more because he’s older. And Shiki actually is CHARMING to his guests and customers.
And he wears clean white suits. Seriously, this man has style!

MIKADO
How I feel about this character
Mikado is an extreme right, if you talk in terms of politics. I guess, yandere type. People think ‘extreme’ means you’re a liberal but Mikado is an example of an extreme conservative type. (The type of guy who’d buy a gun to protect his family?) He means well, but he’s willing to take charge and use power, whatever means necessary to exact justice. Though he hasn’t realized that his ‘justice’ isn’t universal, that there’s no such thing as ‘one true and right answer’ to everything. The poor guy is being used but doesn’t seem to know that he’s with the bad crowd as of book 5-9, and I pity him. Granted he’s growing more and more powertripping and tainted just like how izaya told him to keep evolving… and he’s spiraling downwards and out of control. His ideas are old fashioned and sort of seems like those old politicians… lol I am not saying good things about him lately because of the novel… (I would have said something different if I had only watched the anime )

How I feel about this character
Hoooo boy. Last time I wrote about my fav character of the fandom I was obsessed with, I wrote 3 pages (KHR’s Hibari 2-3 years ago rofl) I will try to shorten this.
Orihara Izaya is a character I don’t understand. Which is why I find him so fascinating. He keeps ‘changing’ and every facet I find of him makes me re-think his personality. It’s his complexity that makes me so addicted to him. I’ll skip all the parts we all already know and talk about the parts that I don’t think people think about often.
I believe Izaya is a coward deep inside and a masochist. He’s a man hiding behind many masks and manipulated plans, distorting his own emotions so no one can truly know who he really is deep inside. (Though I think a few people do know him, Shizuo by instinct and Shinra by keen observation despite the fact that the doctor says he’s not interested in humans) Izaya is obviously scared of death as he seeks to be an immortal, at the same time I think his quest is because he wants to be above others as well. It only shows his insecurities as he flaunts how he’s above others or his quest to fool death. I don’t quite understand him but one thing I do understand is his desire to hide his weaknesses with masks of smiles and guiles. The fact that he himself is so riddled with hypocrisies only makes him more human, which is ironic as well as hypocritical in itself.
His love for humans is also hypocritical. The fact that he says he loves them but it’s not the pure love in the good sense. He loves to watch humans suffer and through pain alone do humans ‘evolve.’ I think he wants humans to ‘evolve’ else, they are boring if they never matured. He loves it when his plans work yet he grows bored if he can predict everything. He likes a bit of surprises but not too much. He does want humans to mature and grow, which most people would think is good… but his methods are obviously very twisted. His ideals are morally ambiguous and I find that very interesting as well.
As for the masochist, it’s canon now thanks to Izaya’s talk with Aoba. But from history and from people I know, those who are in power and loves control, they fantasize about having someone take that control away from them and whip them good :3 Perhaps Shizuo x Izaya can be a bit canon if you think about it. Maybe Izaya secretly hopes that Shizuo or someone will finally defeat him one day. But for now, he’s enjoying himself.
One thing I do think that most people don’t understand. Izaya is STRONG. It would take a LOT to break him. At the same time, he’s a coward and a weakling. Again it’s that hypocritical thing about his personality. It’s a fine balance and I still don’t quite understand this guy.
I do think Izaya is a genius if I need to say one good thing about him. And a genius is peerless, forever walking alone. And a true genius is always a mad one :3
Because he lived a normal life, I am so curious as to what made him who he is. Book 9 gave us hints… but I really wish there was more. It seems like there isn’t one defining event that changed him but many small things… (and strangely enough, I think it’s meeting Shinra that changed Izaya the most. And then Shizuo lol… Is this an unpopular opinion? XD read book 9 guys <3 )

My unpopular opinion about this character
To be honest, I do think he does hate Shizuo. A lot. LOL…. XD Canon-wise, I doubt they’d ever get together. And I WANT it that way, because I want my yaoi to be my fantasy, not reality.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
I just want more of him interacting with Shizuo. In any shape or form >: This is actually VERY rare in the novels >: They rarely interact. They TALK of each other a lot, but they don’t meet often SOB.
