It's time for my first top 5 list. What can i say; there's a reason why Babylon 5 is my favorite show!
Day 06 - Favorite episode of your favorite TV show
5. "Soul Mates"
This is just a really fun episode, what with Londo's three wives showing up and being catty. Mariel telling G'Kar, "If you were married to Londo, we'd all be concerned," is just one of the highlights. Who would have expected this subplot to end with a moment of genuine warmth between Londo and Timov? However, the 'C' plot is the one that really steals the show, as Delenn begins to learn some of the drawbacks to becoming half human. . . .
4. "Voices of Authority"
Overall, this is one of the funniest episodes of Babylon 5, from Julie Musante's interrupted seduction attempt to Ivanova's meeting with Draal to Marcus and Ivanova trying to convince one of the First Ones to help them. Yep, wall-to-wall laughs, but in between them you will also find a set up of the role the First Ones will play in the coming war, hints about the disturbing nature of events on Earth, and final confirmation that Clark was indeed behind President Santiago's assassination.

3. "Babylon Squared"/"War Without End Part One"/"War Without End Part Two"
Okay, so this one is kind of a cheat because it's really 3 episodes, but they tell one story. The remarkable thing is that the first half of the story is told in Season 1 while the rest is not revealed until Season 3. I really enjoyed "Babylon Squared" when I saw it for the first time, but "War Without End" blew my mind when I realized how it meshed with the earlier episode to turn it into a completely different story, all leading up to the ending/beginning of Sinclair's character arc. This was probably the first moment I realized what a true work of genius Babylon 5 was.

2. "Passing Through Gethsemane"
I really love what Andy Lane has to say about this episode in The Babylon File. "This is as complex a theological argument as we're ever likely to see in an American drama series, taking in original sin, personal sacrifice, the legitimacy of revenge and the limits of personal responsibility." JMS has given us a gripping story that explores all of these issues without pretending that it has all the answers. It is so rare to see a TV show address any of these issues at all, let alone treat the Christian faith with any respect, that "Passing Through Gethsemane" takes my breath away.
1. "Sleeping in Light"
What can I say about the series finale? One of the saddest and yet most uplifting episodes of anything ever made. I weep openly every time I watch it, but my tears are partly tears of joy for everything Babylon Five accomplished in its five year run. The perfect ending to a wonderful show. Thank you, JMS!
