I've loved Sennheiser for YEARS. They are fantastic in general :-)

You get what you pay for, especially with high end music equipment. The exception is leads, of course. High end leads are mainly a rip off.

Do you still play Viola?

I discovered the better-ness of the earplug-type headphones when I got some free with my MP3 player. They felt funny at first but they're so much better than the 'flat' earbuds, which always hurt my ears after wearing them for not-very-long... I go for cheaper ones ($20-ish from JB, although I've seen them cheaper in Officeworks since buying them...) but they still sound quite good.

I think the mic-less equivalents of these go for about $60-70 at JB. The cheap ones I got were probably worse than a $20 pair of plain earphones. They were missing lots of high end and low end, and they didn't have alternate sized "seals." I have small ear canals and so normal sized seals just pop out over time.

I have pretty sensitive hearing, I honed it by listening and transcribing over 100+ songs for bass guitar when I was in a cover band. Unfortunately, though, I need a pretty high volume for the above to come into affect... because I played bass guitar in a cover band. :-/

Oooh, is it this set? Between you & this review, I'm just about sold. I really like having the pause/volume controls on the iPhone headphones, but the ear buds themselves fall out on me. (Too large for my wife, too small for me: the Goldilocks dilemma.)

Very tempted.
