Asleep at last :)

Sometimes (like tonight) it takes a long time to get Ryan to sleep and it feels frustrating at the time, especially when he is fighting it and overtired. But when I do finally get him to sleep and he looks so peaceful it all feels worth it :) I think he is teething - he has got a new tooth through at the bottom so the opposite one should be due any ( Read more... )

I think they are great for little boys and if you feel there might be objections from James you can get blue dolls as well as pink. You can get some nice squishy ones which are suitable from 1 year and if you shop around they needn't be too expensive. There is no reason why a boy should not want to explore, imitate and be encouraged to investigate what his mum is doing while he is around, like vacuuming.

I think a squishy one might be nice. He is obsessed with the hoover, our old one (a silly Tesco value thing) broke and we were going to clean it out and let him play with it but it ended up in the garden so I thought perhaps an actual toy one might be better for him to play with before he breaks the new one as well.

Oh I shouldn't worry about. I've given up here - the boys get bought tea sets and baby dolls and pushchairs now in pink and they love it. They are getting a red wooden kitchen and masses of wooden food for Christmas too. ;)

I think I went a bit far when I bought them loads of Flower Fairy plates, bowls and, God help us all, glittery beakers a couple of weeks ago though! ;)

Oh I love flower fairy stuff, I am not even that girly but I had loads of it when I was little :)

Actually I did get a copy of "That's Not My Princess" from a charity shop because it was in great condition and I was surprised and a bit indignant that every single page had glitter on whereas the boy/unisex ones (we have also got the Truck one and Teddy one) have got none. Surely all babies/children like sparkly things?

(Nice to see you btw - I thought you had moved on to blogspot?)

I'm on Wordpress but come back about once a month for a quick read when I am bored. :)

How old is Ryan now? Abigail has been really into baby dolls since she was about 1 1/2 years old. You can get some nice boy baby dolls from the Early Learning Centre (that's what we have, as I actually bought it for Thomas not Abigail, she has just taken it over). They also do a nice toy dyson-type thing there which I think looks boyish enough - ELC seems to make a blue and a pink version of all their toys, so just get him the blue versions to keep James happy. Thomas has plenty of 'girl' toys along with his 'boy' toys.

He'll be 14.5 months at Christmas. That is true that they do pink and blue versions of everything, apparently they sell out of the blue stuff a lot quicker - I suppose people want gender neutral things!
