I would like to know what the best classic arcade style scrolling flying games there are. Does anyone have any input? I want to download 1-2 on the wii but I dont know which ones are decent. Any help would be great :3

Gradius III is awesome
There's some game that's really similar by the same group that has penguins in it too. That might fill your furry quota too.

Raiden II's not side scrolling (top scrolling), but equally awesome.

I don't remember if they were on the arcade or just some older systems but I was a big fan of Defender and Parsec back in the day. Life Force/Salamander was a good one too.

If you can find it, the gamecube release of Ikaruga is fantastic. It turns out I'm not twitchy enough really master it. I also recommend R-Type as a fun game. Not sure if it's out on the Wii yet.

Gradius I and II are the best side-scroll fliers as far as old school goes.
Best side-scrollers ever made?
By a long shot, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga.
Ikaruga was released for Gamecube so you probably can't download it and Radiant Silvergun was only released for the Dreamcast and I'm not sure if its available outside of Japan. Tyber would probably be able to track a usable copy down for you though. Give him a ring. That game is absolute win.

In other news, ohai, its alive!
