... then every now and then something hits me and I just absolutely boggle at the scale of what has happened here. Today I had one of those moments when I looked at this set of pictures.

I just ... there's nothing there. I literally don't recognise any of those 'landmarks' and it's so bizarre because I would have said that I knew Lichfield Street ( Read more... )

Wow. I can't even imagine. I wouldn't have known that those pictures were of the same place . . .

I doubt myself a bit too and wonder if it really is the same intersection (she has mislabeled things before) because I just don't remember. I went on google street view and I can't find some of the buildings from the damage picture around that intersection. Still, that picture is very indicative of the type of buildings that lined Lichfield Street before and so does show why that wide empty space is so disorientating.

*hugs back* thanks for the thoughts and prayers. There are days when I need it a bit more than others and yesterday surely was one of them. After seeing those pictures I got this restless, discontented, maudlin feeling for the rest of the night which was very hard to shake.
