Christie almost got diagnosed with it about four days before Nick came this fall. They did a mono test and it only took an hour for the results to come back (negative). Then they figured out it was strep. But yeah, mono sucks from everything I've heard. On the bright side, if it's two weeks before going home, it should be mostly gone by the time you hit NH- it usually only lasts three or so.
