On Monday we all went to Glen Echo Park, established in 1891 as an arts/culture center, then an amusement park until 1968, and now serves once again as an arts educational center.
It's been too long since I've been to Glen Echo. It's so cool. It's like stepping back in time. Just my luck that their Family Day (the big annual festival) is the same day as Maryland Day.
If you know of any other local attractions in the same vein (sort of a "place that time forgot", or similar) please let me know! I'm always looking for interesting day trips for photography.
Every so often I think that there's got to be LOADS of places like that in the 'greater Philly area' (do we even have an official phrase, like metro area, or something?), but I never know how to go about finding them...
I think I found this place while looking at the list of US National Register of Historic Places for the surrounding counties down here. Of course Philly has a ton, but here's a list that excludes Philadelphia.
Ooh, these came out really awesomely. I love the detail you got from the carousel - I had not been able to see that ceiling, it's GORGEOUS. Also, every time I see the shot of the C from the popcorn I think it's the Cubs logo. JUST SAYING.

How'd you find out about it?

I can see where you see the Cubs logo. Sort of a Cubs/Pac-Man combo.
