Jake walks into the bar and Olivia is there, dipped back in Lars's arms and laughing like she never left. He ducks right back out, grateful that she doesn't see him, and stands in the orange light of sunset, his heart pounding like it's trying to escape.
She's back. She's dancing with Lars like she never went away, and oh, she looks so happy it breaks his heart. She's back, and she's happy, but she hasn’t seen him yet.
What if she doesn't need to?
The sunset blinds him, orange light burning through his eyelids.
He doesn't go back inside.
