Summary: Edward prepares to make his move.
Notes: And here’s Edward. Somehow translating him to modern times made him worse. I’m going to preemptively warn for [highlight for spoilers] stalking and malicious intent toward an underaged boy just in case.
Edward sat back in the flimsy desk chair, fingertips pressed together as he studied the laptop in front of him. He glanced out the window, lip curling as he again took in the scrubby brush and small trees outside the window. His son-in-law had been smart to run to Madison. If Edward hadn’t been so determined, he would have never thought to look in a town such as this.
He smiled to himself, reaching over and picking up his cell, specially set up to appear as “Private Caller” on all Call Waiting systems, and redialed the last number. He listened to it ring three times before someone picked up on the other end.
“Hello?”
It was Dean. Perfect. He stayed silent, letting his light breathing tickle the speaker on the phone.
He could almost hear his grandson swallow before he hung up without another word. This was an old game - perhaps their oldest - and he knew it unnerved the boy. He also knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Dean had not told his father. Not this time. Not now that he had made friends.
Edward set his cell phone down and again looked to the computer screen and the website it had up. He shook his head. It had been just plain stupid of Dean to set up a Facebook account, another thing he doubted his son knew about, and even stupider to friend all his new little buddies at the local high school. It had been child’s play for Edward to find him, even with the privacy settings Dean had set up.
He reached for the mouse, hovering it over the newest comments on Dean’s News Feed - plans for later in the week.
Edward knew he would have to be careful, but Sorin so rarely let his son out of his eyesight and knowing exactly where Dean would be was too good of an opportunity to let pass. Yes, it would be then.
He smiled in anticipation.
Soon.
Very soon.
