Notes: Peanut Butter Week 3. Yay Chris, haven't written him in a while! I’m on a Hot Fudge kick apparently…More coming outside of the PB week too!

Chris sniffed the wind as it whistled down the street, scattering the last wispy bits of fog from the front of the building. “What do you think?” he asked his second-in-command.

Kev shrugged. “We’re going to get a nasty one tonight.”

He grinned. “Perfect.”

“What are you going to do with Darcy and the girl?”

“Rid myself of them as soon as their people make a move.” His grin widened. “Finally, Kev, after all our work, we’ll launch the decisive blow tonight. No more guilds in Grayspire. Just me.”

Kev nodded gravely. “What then, boss?”

“Haven’t decided yet. I was hoping I’d have more time with Russ.”

“So don’t kill him yet.”

Chris laughed. “He’ll be too much of a burden to take with us, as much as I might want to.”

“Sir!” one of his men came racing up. “They’re massing near the center of the city.”

“Perfect. Come, Kev, let’s go finish Russell Darcy and Miss Morgan Campbell.”

Only now did Kev grin as well and trailed him back into the building and down the maze of corridors to the room holding the two prisoners. Chris stepped inside and smirked at the pair. Russ had his good arm wrapped around Morgan’s shoulders. Morgan, in turn, had her head on his shoulder, both fast asleep. His gaze slid from the young redhead to his old friend, who had personally betrayed him by choosing Shannon and Matthew over him.

Although this hadn’t precisely been the way he had envisioned ending Russell Darcy when Russ had originally turned traitor, but he couldn’t say he was disappointed in the way things had turned out. Russ’s return to the Grayspire had forced the issue that Chris had started over five years before and he wasn’t disappointed. Although he enjoyed slowly eating away at the guild system, a massive full scale battle appealed to him. A battle with all those deaths just because of him. It was almost more delicious than he could handle. It was a pity he couldn’t be there in person, but forcing Shannon and the others into a standstill because he was smarter was just as good. Yes, it was time.

“Well, well, well, isn’t this just so cute?” he said loudly.

“Yeah, adorable,” Kev agreed as the pair stirred.

Chris beamed, hand going to rest on the hilt of his sword.
