MisfitsSummary: While on the run, Leo and Kennedy aren’t always on good terms.
Notes: I’m still don’t have everything about this story ironed out and it comes to me in weird bits and chunks.
She still writes him.
Not letters but postcards. Never from the city they are in right now and always with strange methods to avoid him figuring out where she is.
She has worked out this complex system that doesn’t make sense to anyone but her. Well, maybe him. It’s hard to tell.
It’s hard to tell why she does it. They talked about it long and hard and agreed that relationships aren’t something they cna afford and she nodded and seemed understanding. He thought it was all ironed out but apparently all it means is that she’s going behind his back.

Leo isn’t sure what he’s supposed to do, if he should tell her to stop being juvenile. He guesses these are safer than if she sent Max long letters, even if they were coded. He doubts that the postcards will lead to them but he still dislikes the idea.
She is being careful and he knows that. He has worked with her for long enough to realize that their security is her first priority. And yet, she finds a way to stay in touch with this agent of Nachzehrer.
It’s not the security he’s worried about.

It upsets him that she can find someone she cares about in this world when this situation they are in is what’s preventing him from being with the one he loves.
He left with her because it was the only way and he has been telling himself ever since that it was the right thing to do, to leave Reagan behind without even saying goodbye, that she would understand.
That was two years ago. There have been messages but always strategy-related, never a sign of whether she still thinks about him.
She shouldn’t be happy if he can’t be.

Max leaves her messages whenever possible, not through postcards since he can’t know where she is but he finds ways to. Through other agents, in mission statements, just tiny bits and pieces to let her know that he’s still there, still thinking of her.
Whenever she gets one, she will smile for the rest of the day and Leo will be in a bad mood for at least that long. He wants to have someone who will write him messages, he wants to have someone he can make smile for hours and hours with a line of text or two.
***
All he wants is to have someone who will be there for him like Max is for Kennedy even though they are so far apart.
