MisfitsSummary: A strange person knocks on Max and Kennedy’s door, disturbing their peace.
Notes: This had to happen sooner or later. Totally finishing this tonight.
Max had already been half asleep on the couch when the door rang. Kennedy who was watching TV and whose lap Max’ head was resting on rolled her eyes.
“Who the hell would come over at almost midnight?”
There were a lot of people actually. Helena did this on a regular basis, especially now that her apartment building had been blown up and she was hating her new living situation. Rip also came by when he was too aggravated by his unwanted house guest Helena and Regan always promised she would call ahead but never did.
Max stumbled to his feet to go open the door, a job that usually befell him. He had barely opened the door when a man he had never seen before forced his way past him into the living room.
He was a fit man, older, maybe sixty, and dressed like a caricature in a loud, checkered shirt and very tight jeans that looked a little bit disturbing tucked into cowboy boots. To top that garish outfit off, he wore an almost discreet cowboy hat.
By now it was too late to change it, but Max regretted having let that man into the apartment. He did not look like someone he didn’t even want to come anywhere near of.
“I think the costume party must be in someone else’s apartment,” Max said, hoping to get this man out as soon as possible.
“This is not a costume! These are my clothes!” He sounded so indignated as he yelled at Max that Max wasn’t sure what to do. This man had to be insane, pretending to be a cowboy. Max had always pictured them as long extinct and a little more dignified.
“Uncle Wes!” Kennedy called, appearing at Max’ shoulder. “It’s so good to see you.”
Uncle Wes ceased yelling immediately and turned to Kennedy who didn’t seem surprised at all to see him.
This was when Max decided that as well as he knew Kennedy, she had kept this scary secret from him. He felt a little betrayed, but more than that, worried that this garish figure would make regular appearances.
