“Come on! It’s just a little drop. I’ll catch you.”
I did not like his tone. Falling was a perfectly natural thing to be afraid of. In fact, had humans not been afraid of falling, we’d all be jumping off cliffs willy-nilly and splat! That would be it. Just because there were spells to cushion the landing did not make a speck of difference. There was a time when no one had spells, and there will be a time again. If that day is tomorrow, I’d rather not be caught defenseless.
But, I could not explain. So I jumped.
