Title: Far Away (Where We Might Laugh Again)
Summary: A nation can best be judged by her people.
Notes: Title (and Special Brownie prompt) is from “Wooden Ships” by CSN. I think its about nuclear war, but then this piece has nothing to do with the song as a whole so ignore my rambling.
Arambh’s true face was revealed, not in her grand capital city or even the smaller coastal ports, but in what was affectionately called the Brushback - a wide, remote grassland in the far eastern reaches of the country. Here, the Watwanyasi people had lived for longer than Arambh had existed. Though proud, though cut off from the rest of the nation by distance, though many of them had no idea who the ruler of the country was, travelers to their land were welcomed with the affection of long-lost kin. They were a peaceful people far from the reach of war.
