“I thought your mum told you to clean those up,” said Rune to the girl and the battered trap dangling from her fingers.
“She did, but-” Tish shuddered, thrusting the things even further from herself with a nauseated look.
Fully intending to end the plight of its captive, Rune snatched the trap from her grasp. The mouse cocked its head, set its beady little eyes on him. Rune yelped and dropped the trap. The mouse sprinted away while both children stared.
“I thought you said it was just twitching.”
“It was.”
Rune shrugged. “I guess it’ll get caught again later.”
