“Oz, are you absolutely sure we have everything we need?” Adrianna called down the stairs as she fumbled with her earrings, trying to get the jewelry to slide into place. She knew her voice sounded frantic, if not completely panicked, which only made her nervousness spike even more. Silently, she tried to tell herself that everything would go fine, that if Oz wasn’t nervous, than she had absolutely nothing to worry about. Of course, that did absolutely nothing to calm her down. Holding the stair rail in a death grip as she hurried down the stairs and into the living room, she jumped as Oz came behind her and gently grabbed her by the shoulders.

“You need to relax.” He murmured. His tone was amused at her expense, but Adrianna still found the Irish brogue his words carried to be calming. Taking a deep breath, she held it in for one, two, three before letting it out in a deep sigh. Behind her, Oz chuckled, lightly squeezing her shoulders before he let her go. “We’ll be fine. We’ve got the marriage license, papers showing we have joint bank accounts, joint bills, that we live in the same house... We’ve even got pictures from the wedding reception and from get-togethers since then, and I’ve got everything I need to bring. The lawyer is going to meet us there, and we’ll be fine.”

“If I get you sent back to Ireland, Andy’s going to kill me. Shoot, I’ll kill myself. I already feel guilty enough that you won’t let me help with rent or bills except the ones needed for the paperwork, but if I mess up and you don’t get this green card, it’s all going to go to hell and everyone is going to hate me and-“

Moving around her to face her, Oz took Adrianna’s face in his hands, forcing her to look at him. “Listen to me. We will be fine. I’ve made sure we have all the paperwork we need, pay stubs and tax returns included. We live together, and as far as anyone knows, we’re a perfectly happy married couple. We. Will. Be. Fine.”

Taking a shaky breath, Adrianna nodded. It was obvious that she wasn’t completely calmed down, but she wasn’t on the verge of a panic attack. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough for Oz. Offering her a smile, he let go of her to reach down and take one of her hands in his, interlinking their fingers. “Come on. The sooner we leave, the sooner I get that damn stamp, and we can come home and celebrate. Champagne and all.”

Squeezing his hand, Adrianna surprised the both of them when she was able to give a small smile in return. They would be fine.

“I thought you were quitting.”

Oz shot Sarah a pleading, guilty look that was somewhat ruined by the half smoked cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth. “...Please don’t tell Andy?”

She was quiet for a moment. “Buy me lunch, and you have a deal.” She finally answered, as if they were negotiating over papers of some sort, instead of talking in the alley behind the tattoo shop.

“Fine. But I get to pick where we eat. And you aren’t getting lobster, either.”
