Summary: Mal, Morgan’s boyfriend, gets the Talk from three unlikely suspects.
Notes: I was talking to Marina the other day and realized that poor Mal would totally get it from a lot of angles, so here they are. Just fun fluff! No plotiness at all.

Mal expected to get the Talk from Morgan’s father. That was his job. Morgan was an only child and they had been officially going out for over a month.

What he didn’t expect was for Colin to sit him down, one of the few times he was up at the castle without Morgan. “So you and Morgan have made it official.”

“Yes?” Mal said, the word coming out more as a question than he would have liked.

Colin pinned him with a Look. “Morgan’s been working for me a long time.”

“I know that,” Mal said, starting to get an idea of what this was all about.

“And I care a lot about her wellbeing.”

“So do I,” Mal pointed out, trying to hide his amusement.

“I’m just saying. I don’t want to see her hurt, Malcolm,” Colin said and Mal knew he was serious because Colin, Mr. I-hate-formal-names, had pulled out the full name. “It was bad enough watching her in the months following the incident with Chris, not to mention how that still affects her.”

“I know the story and I know how she is. Honestly, Colin, we do commu-”

“You hurt her and you will regret it for the rest of your life. I run a spy network. The best ever and you can’t hide from that.”

Mal decided a solemn nod and a promise to never hurt Morgan was in order, so that’s what he did.

He got a bit more worried when Russ sat him down on afternoon, while Dean occupied Morgan. This time, he saw it coming. Russ got straight to the point, which didn’t surprise Mal.

“Look, Mal, I like you.”

“Thank you?”

“Morgan’s been my friend for a while now. And she’s like the little sibling I never had. Do you get me?”

“Yes, clearly,” Mal said.

Russ sat forward. “You know what I’ll do?”

Mal shook his head.

“I will string you upside down, by your toes, leaving you outside for the wolves until...”

“I get the point!” Mal said hastily, holding up his hands. “No need for any more description. I won’t hurt her, promise!”

Russ now leaned back, still keeping him pinned with a look. “You had better. She deserves the best.”

“I will do my best,” Mal promised before beating a hasty retreat.

“Oh, look, it looks like Sorin wants to talk to you,” Morgan said cheerfully. “I think I’ll stay here.”

Mal shot Morgan a nasty look. “You only find this amusing because they aren’t directed at you. Considering the last two, Sorin’s talk alone might kill me.”

“Good luck,” Morgan said, leaning over and kissing him on the cheek before shoving him towards Sorin.

Mal trudged over to Sorin. “Can I cut you off at the pass?” he asked without much hope.

“No,” he said. “Just listen. I know you have your own demons, Mal, and I know that sometimes there will be bad days. Morgan has her fair share of those as well. What I ask of you is that you don’t hold them in. You share everything with her from the good to the bad to the just plain shitty. You apologize when it’s your fault and you treat her right all the time, no matter how bad of a day it is. Do you understand?”

Somehow, that simple speech was a thousand times more intimidating than Colin or Russ. Probably, Mal reflected, because it set standards.

“Yes, sir.”

Sorin smiled at that, patting him on the shoulder. “Oh, and if you do break her heart? You are in deep trouble, Malcolm Rees.”

“I am well aware. I promise that if anyone’s heart gets broken, it will be mine.”

Sorin nodded somberly, although Mal could see the amusement dancing in his eyes. “Good choice.”

Now all that was left was her father proper, but he couldn’t have anything on these three, Mal reassured himself and silently crossed his fingers, hoping he was right, because he didn’t think he could handle this a fourth time.
