Faith didn’t bother being quiet as she shoved open the door to Chloe’s apartment, a paper bag clenched firmly between her teeth, and a cup of coffee carefully balanced in her free hand. Tucking her keys back into her pocket as she closed the door with her foot, she didn’t try to muffle her footsteps or carefully tiptoe around the various items of clothing, make up, and jewelry that littered the floor. One glance at the blanket covered lump on the bed in the only room the apartment held told her that Chloe wouldn’t be waking up without the proper motivation.

Knowing someone since you were both seven really comes in handy sometimes.

The bag still held in her teeth, Faith made her way over to the only new appliance in the apartment and quickly flipped through the music selection before she decided on something. A moment after pressing the right combination of buttons, the old school sounds of Matchbox 20 started from the speakers spaced around the apartment. Faith had to admit, Chloe’s family definitely made sure she knew good music. Even if it was ridiculously old.

Finally setting the coffee down on the only table in the space, which was little more than an old graffiti covered door that rested on top of a claw foot bathtub, she made her way over to the blanket and Chloe covered futon. Yanking the covers back enough to get a good bearing of where exactly the apartment owner was resting, Faith climbed up on the bed to straddle Chloe without a preamble of thought. Settling on the other girl’s hips, she finally took the bag out of her mouth and brought a somewhat squashed powdered sugar donut out of the depths, waving it over Chloe’s face.

“Hey, Cherry. I brought breakfast.”

Slowly, Chloe opened one blue eye to groggily focus on the confection in front of her before she looked past it to blankly look at Faith. After a moment, she only mumbled something half intelligible before shutting her eye.

“Oh, come on.” Rolling her own eyes, Faith tossed the half empty bag aside and rested the ignored donut on top of it. Fine. If that didn’t work... She heaved a sigh of great chagrin, leaning over Chloe to nearly lie on top of her. “I bet I can guess one word that’ll get you all hot and bothered and woken up.” She waited, and was answered with the same half-asleep mumble. Grinning, Faith nearly brushed her lips against Chloe’s ear as she spoke. “Java.”

Again, she waited. After a pregnant pause, Chloe opened both eyes to look over at Faith. “....S’it caramel?” She asked, words slurred with sleep.

“Like I would bring you anything else.” Faith answered. As she sat up, she grabbed the discarded donut and stuffed it into Chloe’s mouth as she yawned. Perhaps unsurprisingly, her grin only widened at the annoyed look she received for the task. “Come on, wake up. It’s already the crack of noon and you promised we’d go to that Midsummer thing in Battery Park. And since I brought you breakfast and caffeine, I think you should hurry the fuck up, you know?”

Though Chloe’s answer was mumbled around a mouthful of powdered donut, Faith chose to take it as an affirmative answer and crawled off of the bed to retrieve the promised cup of coffee. Within a few minutes, she had Chloe sitting up and munching on a second donut, the caramel macchiato nearly gone. “You sure that thing at the park is today? Could have sworn it was next week...”

“Quit trying to get out of it, Cherry. You promised you’d go get your Pagan on with me.”

“I’m not trying to get out of it.” Chloe frowned, throwing the covers off of her legs and standing. “I guess the late nights and new apartment and everything just has my days mixed up.”

“Babe, I hate to break it to you, but this isn’t an apartment. It’s a glorified closet.”

“I like it. It has character.”

“It has support beams in the middle of the room, and you have to store your clothes in milk crates!” Faith argued, glancing to the floor covered in random items. “When you remember to, at least."

Chloe only laughed as she dragged the door off the top of the bathtub and propping it up against the wall. She started to strip as water filled the tub, completely unabashed to Faith’s presence. “You haven’t asked me how the show went last night.”

“Subtle. Real subtle.” Just as unbothered by Chloe’s nudity, Faith toes of her shoes and brought her legs up to sit cross legged on the bed. “Alright, how was the show?”

“Only awesome. People stayed, watched, applauded.” As Chloe climbed into the tub, a glimmer of the same wide-eyed, purely delighted expression that she had worn the night before crossed her face. “Met a guy afterwards.”

“Details, woman.”

“His name was Kurt. He’s Starr’s little brother. You know, the fake redhead who does the Jessica Rabbit shtick? He seemed alright. Awkward. Cute. Kinda frat boy-ish.” Chloe paused as she ducked under the water to wet her hair and slicked it back as she surfaced a moment later. “Pretty sure I’m gonna marry him within the next year or two.”

Oddly, Faith took that declaration in stride. “Bet Oz is gonna love when you announce that the next time you head over that way.”

“Daddy’ll get over it. He always does.” Shrugging, Chloe submerged again to wash the shampoo from her hair. “Besides,” She gasped once she came back up, blinking water from her eyes. “It’s not like he’ll argue with me about it once he gets over the denial and pouting stages.”

“And you’re certain this Kurt guy is gonna want to get hitched to your dramatic ass?”

“Please, Faith. We both know I always get what I want.”

Faith only sighed, ruefully shaking her head. “Cherry... You are definitely one of a kind.”
