Summary: Drew gets a shock when an accident forces Finn to use his powers.
Notes: This wouldn’t fit in Finn’s pocky chain.

After Drew and Lynne bought their house in the suburbs, Finn spent a lot of weekends there in the spare bedroom, helping Drew with various home projects while Lynne wrangled their three children - six-year-old Tyler, three-year-old Chloe, and the newborn Addy. Finn never minded and it gave him an excuse to spend lots of time with Drew, who he would never admit he idolized.

On this particular day, Drew and Finn were out in the garage, which had been set up as a workshop while they worked on the improvements Lynne and Drew wanted. They were working on a playhouse for the three kids for the backyard. Drew was running his table saw, while Finn fed the wood.

The suddenness with which it happened took both of them off guard. One minute, they were talking idly and cutting boards and the next minute, snick, Finn’s hand exploded with pain and blood.

“Holy shit,” Drew exploded, instantly spinning for a first aid kit and Finn was distantly grateful for the fact his brother was not one for inaction. He’d spaz out later about the fact he’d just cut off his fourteen-year-old brother’s right pointer finger no doubt.

Drew turned back around and froze. “Finn...”

“You knew,” Finn murmured, staring at his own hand, where the finger had regenerated automatically as his magic took over the incident. Absently, he rubbed the new finger, the appendage feeling strange and tingly.

“Does it...work normally?”

“I would guess so,” he said, carefully bending it and shaking it out, missing as Drew flinched at the blood that splattered onto his work table from it. “I haven’t ever lost a limb before,” he informed him, holding it up to look at it.

“We should clean the blood off,” Drew said slowly, obviously still in shock.

Finn reached over and snagged an old towel, sponging off his hand and managing a shaky grin. “Well, at least they come back, right?”

“Yeah,” Drew said slowly, holding out the word and meeting Finn’s eyes. Almost as one, the two of them slowly turned to look to where the bloody severed finger lay a few feet away on the ground. After a long few moments, Drew cleared his throat uncomfortably. “What are we supposed to do with that?”

“Throw it away? In a plastic baggie? Or maybe bury it? Can we not tell Mom? I want to keep helping you.”

“You want to...” Drew trailed off, returning his gaze to Finn for a moment before bursting into laughter. “I just...I can’t discuss putting your finger into a plastic bag to dispose of,” he said finally, as Finn had to grin too. “C’mon, let’s go make this Lynne’s problem.”

“You are evil.”

“Nope, just happily married,” Drew responded with a wink, leading him out of the workshop.
