I have a clinger. The FWB. So, I didn't exactly tell him I have a boyfriend, but I told him that I was seeing someone and things were headed to serious. He sent me an email since the last one I mentioned (heavy with "pity me"). Talking about how I was in his thoughts, and a quote from a book (The List.. the Tara Ison novel I fell in love with)

I always feel honestly is the best policy. Even when it is literally brutal honesty. You could tell him you're seeing someone that you really like, so that you have a concrete "reason". Or, you could just tell him that he's a great friend, but you feel things are getting too serious. Or, you could just tell him you need some time to figure things out. Just make sure not to lead him on if possible so that he gets the point.
