One mans orchard...

I worked with a young woman before I was married who overstated things to say the least. Let's just say that her cup was neither half empty nor half full... it runneth over! When she and her husband bought a house with an acre of land she was describing that there was an established orchard on the property. Peter and I still smile when we ( Read more... )

We are conditioned to knowing that our seasons are the opposite because of all the Christmas decorations etc that show winter wonderland scenes. You probably haven't had much reason to think about us sweltering on Christmas day eating cold cuts and salads.

We have very sandy soil and humidity... maybe that is the recipe for growing a watermelon?

Ah,

The ubiquitous Hills Hoist in the Citrus Shot! LOL

I wish I had a garden - I'd LOVE to grow my own fruit and vegies. As a kid, we grew tomatoes, beans, watermelons, carrots....

Now all you need on your farm is some animals! Oh...wait.... LOL

I luurve my Hills Hoist. Looks like I will have to lose it with the renovation though. This old line has been able to dry dozens of nappies at a time, and more recently I can change 4 beds and dry all the sheeting at the same time.

It is nice to have an established garden where things grow without even being planted! One of the sweetest rockmelons I have ever eaten was grown in our yard exactly the same as the watermelon... a pip or a bird poop... and next thing we know we have melon!

And just who are you insinuating is an animal in my house? :)
