One of the things we talked about in tutor training last night was to be careful not to go into tutoring with the mindset of "I'm going to fix this kid." It is a bad idea to expect that you will be so awesome at tutoring that you'll teach the kid everything he needs to know in the first month. It would never work. I think you are exactly right...I think this is the reason my half-marathon was hell for me. I wasn't ready to start off. Instead, I picked one as a goal and then I forced myself to train for it, and my body was never really ready. Unless I became the kind of person who could run 10+ miles regularly, I probably wouldn't aim to do a race like that again!

Have you run any 10Ks yet? The 10K distance is a good one, I love it. Just enough to be challenging, but won't kill you.

If I can make a suggestion: try going to running fit or Tortoise and Hare and joining in on their group runs. That social support can really help consistency...

Sort of like learning in a group rather than trying to figure it out on your own!
