I remember that icon!! OMG. That was like four years ago, I think. :O
It's not so much that I think the fandom is done ... it's that the nostalgia thing is choking me. Just killing me.I was 12 when I first got into HP and HP has been with me through so many times in my life and I can't even begin to say anything about it. It just brings back a lot, good and bad, you know?
When my grandmother was dying and our family was called down to Mississippi to say goodbye to her, the book I brought with me? Order of the Phoenix, because the Harry/Luna conversation about death would make me feel better.
Other favorite HP things:
My husband has a dangerous job, but it's bad luck to tell pilots to "be careful" so I find other little ways of reminding him to take care of himself. It's ok to tell him to be careful with someone other than himself, though. Right after HBP, I hid a note in his things that said "Take care of this note because it's my horcrux." He still keeps it in his car.
Well, there are still the movies to look forward to. :)
And just because the series is wrapped up doesn't mean things have to change. Hitchhiker's Guide and Good Omens were written years and years ago, and they've still fun and active fandoms. :) Don't worry, HP won't be going anywhere anytime soon. ;)
Reading through the first few books made one of my last semesters at Sac State (which I hated) moderatly tolerable. I'd sit in my secret corner under the stairs in the student union building with my ice tea, a bag of M&Ms and one of the HP books while it rained outside, and it was just so lovely. The only fond memory of that whole wretched semester. Unfortunately, I'm one of those jerks who took forever to get into the series and then only liked the 3rd book and kind of lost interest after that. XD *hides* (my favorite characters either got really stupid/uninteresting or didn't get any face time after that.. XD)
I have just been overcome with this HUGE SWARM OF LOVE for Harry Potter and JK Rowling, JKR in particular. I think it's because I just read her acknowledgements on her website and it practically made me teary. Have you read it yet? It's so considerate and lovely!
I LOVE HARRY POTTER SO MUCH. I'm going to a midnight party and I'm afraid I'm just going to start crying in the middle of the bookstore. I am so sad that it's nearly over!
