[ART] The Far End (HBP H/Hr, background Rm/Tk, Rn/Lu)

The DH covers have me excited.

The OotP movie stills have me excited.

The fact that alchemy is on the UK children's cover has me really excited. After all, which ship in fandom has been most prolific with intelligent, fascinating, enlightening, and, best of all, evidence-filled essays on literary alchemyTo be honest, I never cared for alchemy ( Read more... )

Oh I know. This moment in HBP was the clincher to my Ginny!dislike and it's one thing I can't get over when it comes to H/G as a possibility. Even at the end of GoF (if we buy the story that JKR's been building up to OBHWF since Book 1), when Harry's just survived the worst night of his life so far and seen unspeakable things, I was amazed that there is absolutely no mention of Ginny-Sue whatsoever. We know that Hermione is pale and has been crying and just barely manages to keep herself from flinging herself on Harry when he walks in the Infirmary but Ginny-- nowhere. For the girl who's supposedly loved him for years, she's remarkably indifferent to Harry's near-death experiences ( ... )

As for DH, my opinion of JKR is low enough that I'm dreading July 21 like the apocalypse.

Oh, but what if - say, the Alchemists are right, or JKR has half a brain :-) - it turns out to be H/Hr after all! I'm looking forward so much to seeing the H/G fangirl meltdown!! :-)

Marcella, hi!

Not happy as in happy, ha, ha, joy, joy, but happy as in content, as in doing what he had to do, the right thing not the easy thing.

Ginny knew that Harry had to go after MoldyVoldy, that he couldn't just sit and let someone else do it. She "knew" she understood, that he couldn't live with himself otherwise.

Holy crap, you have no idea how happy I am to see a new sketch from you. My clicking when I saw your link on the harryhermione LJ was rather embarassing and frantic.

This is absolutely lovely and you picked the perfect scene. It's amazing how often this is overlooked or ignored by a certain segment of fandom, but this was a really powerful moment in the book. Maybe it's easier for them to skim through the scene when it's only words on a page, but once you see what's taking place in an image like this, the nature of what's happening becomes so much clearer.

Besides the content, you're a terrific artist and the effort you put into the background and secondary characters really brings everything to life. The whole story of the scene is being told in a single picture, context and all.

Anyway, great job and I want to say again how happy I am you're making new artwork!

I believe that Rowling puts a LOT of effort into the relationships--a lot more effort than the opposing ships would like, and a lot more than the opposing ships give Rowling credit for. After all, why would OBHWFers like subtlety and depth? Harmonians are the ones arguing that you have to read between the red herring lines, while they just want obvious and shallow.

Any way you look at it, Harmony wins, if not in canon, then in principle. :P

#1 - You are so talented! IT IS WONDERFUL! Hermione's face is beautiful!

#1 - Thanks!

#2 - *nods* I'm a believer in canon, first and foremost, and in spite of a certain interview with an author who most likely did not reveal the ending to her books to a couple of starstruck, brown-nosing fans, there are still standout pro-Harmony scenes in HBP! I hope to illustrate more in the future. :)

#3 - Because this ship rocks everyone's socks. ;)

Already posted on HF, but I love it. :D And the portrait of the couple in the background is a nice touch. :) Your explanation almost makes me hopeful again. :)

Thanks for the comments in both HF and here! I'm glad I'm giving you some hope, and I hope to instill even more hope in the future! :D

Alas, the portrait in the background actually isn't of a couple--though that would've been interesting. It's actually supposed to be a heroic Godric Gryffindor, reminding everyone to be brave despite the apparent nonsense that was HBP. :P

*laughs* Oh gosh... it looks like a dancing couple to me! But now that I look at it again, I can see that what I thought was the girls' hair is actually... a tree? LOL. Well, it still kinda looks like it could be a couple... aaaaaanyway... I still like it. :)
