His Dark Materials - Will/Lyra sketch

Eep... I haven't been around LJ in quite a long time. Here's my feeble attempt to make up for my absence with a bit of fanart. I hope that's enough. :P

This is one of the best, Harmony-affirming relationships in all of literature: Lyra and Will from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series. If you haven't read these books and you have an ( Read more... )

Thanks! *hugs back*

As much as I wish I could hide out here in LJ land, RL calls. :(

Your icon is extremely depressing, BTW...

Hope you stop by LJ land occasionally, whenever RL gives you the chance!

(Is this icon better, then?)

Whenever I get the chance to hang out here, yeah. Definitely. I still enjoy reading everyone's posts, and as I told chocfrgs4brkfst, I've gotten a bit attached to LJ. :)

(That new icon is beautiful, if a bit bittersweet.)

Lovely work! I haven't read His Dark Materials yet, but am planning to.

Good luck to you with your moving. I hope everything goes very smoothly.

Hope to see you back soon!

Thanks! And unless you're an easily offended Catholic/Christian, I strongly recommend the HDM series. It's a soothing balm to the lack of Harmony in HBP. :P

Of course, I'll try to drop by LJ as much as possible. I must confess I've gotten a bit addicted... :)

Was HDM written in response to Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia? I've read that it was. And I'm not easily offended regardless, so no worries there.

Very good to hear that you'll be popping in some. *smiles*

I actually don't know if HDM was a response to Narnia. In fact, I don't know if HDM was written as a response to anything at all; I've not seen any of Pullman's interviews. I've heard that HDM is the anti-Harry Potter series, though, if that means something to you. :P

I started on the first book of HDM a few months ago, got halfway into it then lost it somewhere in my house. You are now encouraging me to pick it up and finish the series.

Good luck with school; we'll miss you. Do try to stop in one and awhile :)

*gasp*

Find that book, Anne! :P It's a fantastic read, and while the Harmony doesn't start until the second book, it's still quality literature. I'll definitely stop by online as much as I possibly can. :D

Thanks for the compliments. :)

Good luck on figuring out the units-to-graduation fiasco. I've got my four years pretty much planned out; the hard part now is surviving it. Engineering is not exactly a cakewalk. :P

I must say, that's one beautiful sketch. I like Will's bruises (wonder if that makes me a sadist?).

Good luck! Hope everything goes well for you. :)
