Well, mostly stuff happened.

Hospital:
Well, good news. Not the best news possible, but really good ones.
Turns out that they discovered several unrelated medical issues while I had a checkup for the stroke; my sinuses have problems, I finally got medicine for my migraine and one nerve in my right arm keeps giving me trouble, but apparently that's ( Read more... )

*hugs* The crappiness of bureaucracy is a world wide trait :-). I'm glad you're getting treated for your ill health though! And man, as a person with the natural craftiness of an elephant, I've got to admire that knitting. I love the green blanket!

Also: did you get the private message I sent a few days ago? Just want to know how much lj is sucking :-).

Actually I have been to Germany a couple of times (Berlin, Dusseldorf, and Essen) and I did get that impression :-). At least everyone looked efficient :-).

oh, we're pros at looking the part.....but sadly, not so much at actually being efficient

I'm sorry to hear about your medical troubles. A stroke? Did that happen recently? The nerve thing is a pain (literally), but you should be ok as long as you don't overdo it. If your fingers start going numb, you've overdone it :) Squeezing a stress ball every once in a while and wearing support gloves helps me a lot.

For some reason, your character with that shotgun makes me giggle. I think it's the shoes. *lol* You hunt Nightwing for pics like I hunt Rogues; without prejudice and a lot of butt shots ;) I recently went out with my virtual camera and posted pics to my LJ. It seemed like Zoom was trying to compensate -_-

I hope you feel better and take it easy.

i had the stroke in january, so it was a while ago, I just went back to the hospital to have a ultra-sound and mri check-up; it's basically over now, all that's left to do is to take one pill a day that is a mild bloodthinner (it's aspirin by another name) and to get my stamina back up so I can finally go running again., I got fairly lucky in that regard ( ... )

*LOL* They're just jealous of your awesome fashion sense. I get my DCUO friends complaining that they keep thinking I'm Piper when we're rogue hunting and laughing at me when another group attacks. I even had someone call out that they found Piper and when I left, they send out a "nevermind -_-". I cackled for at least 10 minutes :D Tricks comes down in the ACE parking lot for a second, if that helps.

So, do you have to continue taking the pills for life, or just until you're back to 100%?

I know but he never stays long enough for proper pics^^

nah, I was on medium-strong bloodthinners for 6 months, and now they put me on mild bloodthinners for about a year. According to the scans from the mri, I'm fine - there is a scar and a thin bloodvessel - but I'm fine, that's just a precaution
at first they wanted to take me off the medication altogether, but since there are no downsides to the new meds, they put me on them anyway

I'm really sorry for your medical troubles... At least you got medicine for your migraine. A powerful enough headache is enough to make you want to curl up and die. On the other hand, I utterly love you for that House That Makes Men Mad reference!! I have the music running through my head every time I have bureaucracy-related problems, and it's because a running joke between one of my best friends and I because it just seems like bureaucracy likes to pile up problems and glitches on her :S

I love the trench and fedora, as well as the Discowing outfit :o) And I'm afraid I didn't get the joke - the picture is a little dark. Or maybe I'm just not the sharpest tool in the shed :P

I hope you get better soon!

the bueraucracy surrounding everything is actually worse than the medical stuff.

we use the, I don't know what it's called in english, the form a38 all the time among friends.
"How was your day?"
"Form A38."
"Oh, bad, huh?"

the ad in the picture says "metro mass transit system - faster than a speeding bullet"

I see what you mean about the bureaucracy being worse. It adds stress and worry on a situation that really doesn't need it, so it makes things worse.

How is the A38 thing called in German? In French it's "le laissez-passer A38", so I guess it's a "pass" in English or something. Anyway, what it means is that your blood pressure goes up :D

Oh, that's a nice one! I squinted at the screen, but I couldn't read it :o)

it's called Passierschein, so the common root "pass" is in all three words

dcuo sometimes has little gems hidden in the game, and on other times, it's horribly uncreative.
for example, shops have names like "market" or "furniture store"...which aren't really names but descriptions, but then you have mummies from kahndaq go "brains", "he was two days before retirement" jokes and your fair share of puns.
