Photos: Park

Aug 29, 2012 19:14

I was sick of studying inside or in the library, so I took my stuff to the park today.
And I finally managed to take the pictures I wanted to take since ca 2008....except that there was some construction going on, so there are still a few shots I couldn't make

Anyway, pictures!

Pictures ho! )

Those buildings are gorgeous! How old is your town? And your pictures are wonderful, but I'm sure they don't do the beauty of that place justice ;) Thanks for posting these!

the town is incredibly old, the oldest buildings are probably 1000 years and older. and it's one of the few major...well, not major as in big but major as in historcially relevant cities that sustained little to no damage in ww2
in case you're interested, here are some old photos I took

I love these photos. They look very soothing, and some of these places look perfect to bring a book to read/something to write on/something to draw and have a good time :o) I had no idea what a weir was (apart from an awesome Australian director), but I think this looks more like what we call "une écluse" - apparently, in English they call it "a lock". My parents used to have a sailing boat, and when my sister and I were little kids they would take us sailing - mostly on the Canal du Midi, because usually we were sick as dogs on the sea :D Locks were one of my favourite parts of the trip. They're basically elevators for when the canal or river is on different levels and the boat needs to be raised or lowered. This Wikipedia link explains it loads better :o)

thanks^^
I think this ...thing is what you're talking about; I was dubious, but that was the only answer the dictionary would give me was that one
I can empathize, me and boats do not go along, as soon as it rocks a little bit, I get seasick
