Ummm...hi

I'm not dead! I've been writing my non-master thesis about transformative literature and been busy with orchestra work and uni stuff ever since.
The paper on transformative literature was pretty exciting and interesting and I've promised elspethdixon and seanchai to translate it for them, since I had a whole chapter about one of their stories, but ( Read more... )

nah, it's DC Universe Online, an MMORPg - it's nothing stellar, but it's fun and free to play.
You can download it for free at the website and just jump right in.
You create a new hero - or villain - and fight alongside the famous heroes.
there's one mode where you can be an iconic hero, but those are just pvp matches where you can just hit people and not do much else

I heard about the plagarism/faked degrees scandal.

Dance for the Piper, dance! And man, Central City is ugly in the game.

yes, it goes crazier every time it happens.
The golden boy minister - who looks a tiny bit like Stephen Colbert - steals blatanly from his own professor who supposedly didn't notice when he corrected the paper....yeah, because if you read a paper that sometimes quotes entire pages from something you wrote, you wouldn't notice either. I think he emigrated to the usa eventually.
We even have to attend a lecture on how to write term papers and what to do to not accidentally write plagiarized stuff, because our profs assume we're not dumb enough to intentional steal from others. With the automated text searches, it would be futile anyway.

Yeah, Central City is not like I expected. There are little maps where you can battle, and those are bigger than the city. It's a bit dark mostly and as I said....really tiny.

Honestly, I think that kind of lecture is necessary for a lot of students. We didn't have one, but I do remember one second-year prof chewing out my class for writing shitty essays, of which he said many were not up to university-level standards (I got a good mark on that essay, so presumably mine was reasonably decent :> ). Kind of a sad indictment on public education, or possibly on the amount of effort people put into their work.

I want to play the game sometime soon, but as I said on Tumblr the other night, my computer's so low on memory that I wouldn't be able to install it :> Need to get more memory...

Neat pictures! Some are pretty mind-boggling (like, does the sun ever rises in Gotham, or is it just night all the time?) and I'm still miffed that Piper's not a good guy. Ah well :/

Glad to hear from you! Orchestra work, eh? That's pretty awesome :o)

What are the other words that begin with "B" in German?

thanks
and no, Gotham is always at night time....there is no sun in Gotham.
But Metropolis is always at day.
I still prefer Gotham^^

words with b.....now what was I thinking about when I made that post?
Beamte - basically civil servants, etc.
bier...no, that's beer
pünktlichkeit/punctuality....but that starts with p...which is close to b, but not quite
...and damn, I had at least one another word, but I can't remember anymore
