Discussion of "The Dark Side of the Internet"

Would like to open a discussion about this article on Freenet/deep-internet by Andy Beckett, published in today's Guardian.

Ah cool! It's so exciting to read about, I had no idea about dark-net/deep-net. I knew about all the members' only academic and military and private organisation stuff though, I guess and when I add it up in my head the figures they are talking about aren't as incomprehensible.

It seems like a fairly balanced article.
All it's really saying is that if you enable people to act without being traced some of them will do good and important things that governments disapprove of, but some will use it for criminal purposes.

Kinda nicely reflects human nature as a whole! Given an unrestricted resource, some will use it for good and some for evil! I did enjoy the article. I was curious as to whether anybody knew the gentleman in question that invented Freenet but no one's got back to me so I guess not!
