Mt. Cook

so I'm sitting on a stump overlooking this valley. I can't remember when I posted last - I think it was Stewart Island. Then I had a day where I didn't feel like writing and a couple of days with no Internet.

I'm sitting on a stump contemplating everything I have thought recently and everything that has happened. I finally have permission to dislike Kate. In fact, I even have permission and means to seek revenge. Not that I will. But it is liberating.

Anyway.

Things we have done.

Stewart Island - we took a boat ride to Ulva Island to hike and look at birds - lots of rare ones and sone sea lions as well. Then I took a two hour trail run out to a bay and back through a massively dense fern forest. And finally after the best meal of my trip we got on another boat and went an hour south to get off on another beach and look at Kiwi birds.

Saturday we left Stewart Island and drove to Milford Sound. What a spectacular drive. Sunday we were not blessed with rain and I took a hike by myself up to Lake Marian - a lake that reflects the mountains, high up in the mountains. We also took a nature cruise out to the Tasman Sea which was spectacular.

this is Milford Sound at sunset.

Yesterday we drove up from Milford Sound to Mt. Cook, stopping in Queenstown (which I hate) for lunch and shopping. Today we hiked around the valley here. Our glacier cruise on Lake Tasman was cancelled so we went hiking again, and now I am sitting on my contemplation stump.
