So yeah. This is one of the many pictures my mom took of my dress.
We're outside our house taking these. I'm amazed the neighbor's yard looks so nice.
Have I mentioned that I love my dress?
Cause I really, really love it.
Me and kinda-boyfriend. I say kinda because our dates tend to consist of us hanging out at his house and watching Doctor Who, which is exactly what we did before we started "dating."
Totally not complaining, though.
We took, like, 20 minutes worth of pictures.
Seriously, my mom had nearly 100 pictures before prom even started.
Me and
control_paradox , my rl bff. Please don't kill me. I happen to really like this pic.
Prom was...interesting. It was in a weird location because the juniors failed to book our usual spot in time, so we were at this place by a lake and a cemetery. A little creepy, but it fit with the medieval theme, which was "What a Knight" or something corny like that. Despite what we had heard, it actually seemed like it was going to be a decent prom. The decorations looked great and the food was good (red velvet cupcakes!). The place was small, but it worked. With a graduating class of 23, it's not like we needed a huge place anyway. We spent most of the time playing cards and complaining about the shitty dancing and the (usually) shitty music. They played Muse and Journey, so the music wasn't completely awful. Just mostly awful. Then the toilets started backing up and overflowing. They tore down the decorations in the walkway to get better access to the bathrooms, decided it was a lost cause, and told the dudes to use a tree outside. For the chicks, there was another bathroom in the back, but we were told to use it as little as possible because they weren't sure how long it was gonna last. It was pretty hilarious, to be honest, and as long as you didn't need the bathroom, it was fine.
After prom was great. I discovered a hidden talent for ping pong, while
control_paradox learned that she kicked ass at the game that was a combination of beer pong and tic-tac-toe. I thought I broke my glasses, but I fixed them. Also, I had some amazingly tasty popcorn at three in the morning, and even forgot to angst about the fact that I missed the new Doctor Who episode. The gifts were shitty unless you were really lucky. Last year, we gave the seniors really awesome prizes, while the lowerclassmen and guests from other schools got okay gifts. This year, it was all a random selection, so the lowerclassmen and guests had an equal chance to get nice stuff while seniors had am equal chance to get shitty stuff. While
control_paradox got an iHome and others got cash, I got a lawn chair. I guess I can use it in college, but where am I gonna put it until then? There is no room in our 550 square foot house for a lawn chair. But then kinda-bf said he was gonna use the money he won to take us on a real date, so I guess I still win.
tl;dr: If I had known prom would be this awesome, I would've gone last year.
