I just had to do a 10-page paper...that I procrastinated on and did from the day before up until the moment I turned it in. Why do we do this to ourselves?

The only reason I can think of is that the idea of immediate gratification appeals more to us than our common sense, our desire to do well over time, and our self-preservation instincts. Or something. Over-analyzing liek whoa because I just got out of philosophy class, yay!
