Are students expected to have meishi? I got my hands on some perforated buisiness card blanks, but I don't know any of the information for where I'll be reachable in Japan. I could do some with my email and website only, or I cold wait and bring them with blank, or just not bother ( Read more... )

Study abroad is coming right the hell up, isn't it? You're not alone in the frazzled-ness, believe you me. Good luck! At least you don't have to get your visa (still)...

Also, did you manage to make money at Gencon? Never heard about that one...

all told I came off with about $250 profit, which will almost cover the money I borrowed from my parents for rent this summer. I really need to get that new website up.

Silly putty and Pez are fine for kid-omiage, but you might want something else for the adults. I got my host family a scenic calendar of Philadelphia and a bottle of maple syrup from where my sister goes to school in Vermont.

I didn't have meishi and didn't give out my home address (American or homestay) to /anyone/. I don't think it's something that students have - although for giving out email addresses/info to stay in touch when you're leaving, it'd be really handy. Phone numbers/keitai email addresses go straight into the phone, so that's not a necessity.
