~*~*SERIOUS POST*~*~

Regurgitating an e-mail I got from UNO, brought to my attention by DAMON PENGUIN. This is pretty serious business, and really needs to be brought to everyone who's had financial aid for higher education within the state of Louisiana's attention. If you haven't had financial aid in the state of Louisiana, it's cool, sorry for bothering you, but ( Read more... )

It's basically saying that the LOSFA databases had been "hacked," and personal information has been released. My social security number, name, and DOB were made prone, so I have to call some phone numbers. Just follow that link and input what info they ask, and they'll tell you if you have to follow through with any anti-fraud stuff.

(i just made up that summary, really, i don't think i read all of that.)

OH YEAH! My mom mentioned all that to me a few days ago. I think she took care of it for me though...
LOL I'm spoiled.

I have not received any such email, which bugs me considering every one of those criteria applies to me.

Hence posting this on the journal. I know that a lot of people I am friends with are out of college and no longer check their school e-mail accounts. Try to spread the word as best as you can.

Did you try going to LOSFA's site linked at the end? At the site, there's a form to fill out to search the database to see if your information's leaked, then provides you with steps to take in order to initiate fraud protection.

This is something really monumental, and I'd assume that they would soon put out tons of letters explaining the situation.

Good luck!

Well, I work at LSU, so I still check my email frequently, which is why I'm concerned...

But thanks for the heads-up.

I did check my info and it was leaked, but I already have fraud alerts on all three credit agencies, so I can't really do anything else except hope no one steals my info, I guess....

Grrrrr. This won't be the first time. They just better have not gotten Sophia's SSN.

yeah, my shit was hacked. someone is going to try to become me and buy a bunch of expensive crap in my name. what's more ridiculous, though (as if it could get any shadier), is that this allegedly happened on the 19th of september and the UNO e-mail went out this past monday. what's with the time lapse?

i only know of one other person who the website says it's affected, but at any rate, this blows. what a hassle. i want somebody to sue this huge company so i can get in on the lawsuit and become incredibly wealthy.

ps- you never told me if you've seen the complete truth about de-evolution!

the thought of being part of a fun and time-consuming lawsuit crossed my mind, but really, the logistics behind them feeding $$$HEFTY DOLLAS$$$ to everyone affected by this are pretty null. this affects thousands and thousands of people, and at best, all they can do is say, "Oops! Sorry, buddy! My bad! My bad!," like the friend who shows up to your house and breaks your mom's prized Elvis cookie jar, and then you and Zack Morris and MARIO LOPEZ have to put it back together but shit just keeps happening and eventually the credits roll and next thing you know, jessi spanno is in showgirls.

i haven't seen "the complete truth of de-evolution." i'm a big devo fan, but i am also a big "NOT SPENDING MONEY" fan. unless you're talking about the thing that KORN did very recently that was a big HULLABALOO? i wouldn't know about that, as life is peachy, anyway.

do you have it? give it to me. i will draw a really cool dragon fighting a dad if you do.
if you don't have it, it's ok. we're in the same boat.
