Rupert was walking by, and Hannah was intent on ignoring him and his crazy self. That was, until she spotted what his shirt said. #1 Dad?! What?
Well now Hannah was intrigued, so she turned and walked up beside him. "What's with your shirt, Rupert? Did you get a new pet or something? Perhaps you're fathering a rock?" Really, this was lame.

"I already have a pet for your information," He informed her, because Rupert was never one to just get straight to the point. "His name is Bosie and he's a puppy. He was here for a bit, but I had to send him home. And I also have my owl, Turlough. But I am not their dad, thank you for asking about my most wonderful shirt, because that would be gross, unnatural, disgusting and gross, and I would never, ever do something like that, not even on a desert island if my life depended on it." He didn't even pause for breath before continuing. "No, my shirt is referring to the fact that my rather wonderful girlfriend is expecting. A child. Our child. Mine and hers. "A baby? Wh-what? How? Are you SERIOUS? YOU'RE HAVING A BABY?!" She stopped dead in her tracks and stared at him open-mouthed. Babies... well that was just insane. Rupert and his poor girlfriend were INSANE. "Why would you want to have a baby? Don't you want to go out and have a LIFE? How are you going to PAY for this? What? You're INSANE!!"
She was shocked that Rupert could be so happy about this. It was HORRIBLE news! How could he be standing here wearing a #1 Dad shirt? Insane. She couldn't even wrap her mind around this.

"Babies are wonderous and joyous things." He said, trying not to sound too hurt. "Also a reason why you should never take risks with birth control, or go without it, I can't remember now. BUT! Even if it is an accident, it's a happy accident! I mean, I know we're young and stuff, but she has a good family, and I have lots of family and friends and money, and we can totally get through this and then at the end? There's a baby!"
The moral of the tale was, Rupert hadn't properly thought this through just yet.
