Radd video game fourth wall info/permission post

Nov 07, 2020 16:41

Post here if your character appears in a video game, and you want a corresponding sprite version of your character to exist in Radd's world.

Feel free to mention any details you may have. What type of game is it? What type of sprite would the character be--hero, enemy, or NPC? Did the game version act roughly like the original, or are there

info, ooc

There's a few Avatar video games (which I don't know much about, seeing as how I've never played a video game in my life- no, seriously), and Azula apparently appears in a couple of them as an enemy NPC. I'd be fine with your guy recognizing her. :)

I'll have to investigate.

You haven't? Seriously?

Nope, just PC games. Growing up my mom's two big "No"s were video games and comic books. >.> Now that I'm older there are a few that look interesting, but, obviously, we don't have the gaming systems and they're soooo expensive.

You should look into getting a DS. They're relatively cheap, compared to the consoles anyway, and there's a wide variety of games available (especially since it also plays Game Boy Advance games... well, currently, there's a new model coming out next year that ditches this feature for... some reason).

As far as I know, the Slayers games are really, really, really old and obscure... so I don't know if he'd recognize Zel.

Probably the best bet for meeting him is Leila - Fire Emblem's a sprite game. Not being familiar with Radd's canon, I wouldn't know for sure how much variation there'd be...

Radd himself is from 1987, and there are really no clues about how obscure his game is, other than that it was apparently popular enough in the U.S. that the company responsible felt the need to Super Mario Bros. 2 up a sequel for it. So obscurity doesn't really make a difference.

The rule seems to be that pretty much anything sprited is fair game, in theory. In practice, there are some combinations that wouldn't be practical--Phoenix Wright, for instance, would be a giant compared to most sprites. But Radd and friends have been interacting with characters from RPGs, adventure games, puzzle games, shooters, and even weird little Flash things.

Well, I suppose he could recognize Zel - but there's probably a lot of variation. As far as I know, the Slayers games aren't canon for the novels or the TV series...

Well, Leila should be normal-sized for a sprite in his world, then. So feel free to say he's met her.

Jak, probably not.

It's Giro, too lazy to log into a DDD-journal for an OOC comment >.>;; mastercatthief November 8 2008, 03:07:26 UTC
Bass, Grey, and Giro are all up for grabs xD Not sure about Megaman though, since I play the manga version...

Well, the idea would be that he's met an actual Megaman sprite running around (probably two or three different flavors thereof, actually, and that's just EXE in particular), and would therefore expect him to understand why he would be an "isometric RPG hero" or have a "custom gauge."

In general, I'm glad you gave this the thumbs-up, because Mega Man characters are probably their own demographic in Radd's world. :D
