New here.  I definitely know what you mean by the feeling of decay and emptiness in a large community.  Spent many nights in Los Angeles, Hollywood and surrounding areas since about 1985.  The fun lasted, but not forever.  I dream of living in a smaller community and to be surrounded by nature; not people, cars, cement, and scowls.

"The fun lasted, but not forever.

^ this ^

you, i and some others realize that. it's so pathetic and sad to see so many others holding onto what used-to-be; to not realize that the only constant is change. nothing lasts forever...and there is no eternal night, for shampires or others who simply like their dark lives. not until you're dead, at least. and if that's what some of those hangers-on want, well, why, then...then why don't they just go kill themselves?

i fear this thread and/or community may be getting hijacked by "been-there-done-that-got-over-it"'s like me...that's not my sole intent for joining...but i see a lot of disenchanted ex-big-city scenesters here, and it's nice to know what i experienced wasn't in isolation.

welcome to the real world, all! it's great to be here! :)

There's no rule against being over it, or being snarky, for that matter. ;)
And I couldn't stop giggling when I read "shampires."

you know, between my first and second paragraph, i inserted a sarcastic little 'snerk', lest anyone think i was truly suggesting people kill themselves; it was merely a little somewhat-dry-humorous jab. however, when i posted it wasn't there in that gap, it was blank . apologies if my snark was lost. :-/

Welcome!
