the funding offer from grad school is in, and it's not at all bad: i'll be a TA for one class, teaching 3 hours a week, with my full tuition and health insurance paid and a decent living stipend. i've heard that what i've got is luxurious compared to students in some other departments, so i consider myself very lucky. this is not to say i won't ( Read more... )

Hooray for you for quitting smoking! Running will be easier. Not that I ran a lot when I was a smoker... but I remember the way my lungs used to feel compared to now. They make less ambient noise now too, which is great if you like to sneak up on people or anything *evil grin*

yay for yay! i'd always just hold my breath when sneaking up on people - it's the cracking joints that give me away, alas...

running was easier, but not surprisingly it was still no walk in the park (no pun intended!). i was afraid of my legs wanting to give out, but they didn't; it was my lungs who said, hi, we need some rest. i can definitely already feel a difference, though!
