[The recording begins slowly, with only the sound of birds chirping in the backround. It's obvious that Vanille's outside, although where she's at outside is hard to tell. It takes a few moments before she speaks, and when she does, her voice is soft, quiet, subdued almost.]If you had a secret, even one you know might hurt someone you cared about, ( Read more... )

That would depend very much on the secret and the person.

What if it was something important? Something that might stop the other person from doing something stupid?

Sometimes people have to do stupid things. We all must make our own mistakes.

What do you think would hurt your friend more - learning the secret from you, or learning it for herself?

I don't know. I think it would hurt her less to never find out at all.

The question sounds as though it could be hypothetical, but it's a very real one for Juliet. She's just dealt with this.]

From experience, Lady, I have learned it is better to tell your loved one yourself, rather than let circumstance do so. Even if it may hurt the person, it will hurt more if they discover you knew and did not tell them.

But if it's going to hurt either way, wouldn't it better to try and make sure they never find out?

Secrets have a way of being discovered, despite our best intentions to the contrary.

I've been hiding this one for a long time. I don't think she even knows I'm keeping it.

If they found out on their own, I think they would be more hurt that you kept it from them to begin with.

But what if you didn't have a choice?

You always have a choice, even if they aren't very good ones.

I guess it depends on the secret. But keeping secrets can be hurtful, too.

What if it was a secret about something that happened in the past? Something that might affect the future? And you're the only one who knows it.

I think it's best to be honest. But even if I say that, I have secrets, too. [The senshi, for one thing; she'd never told Naru, even when Naru had figured out there was something.]

I'm not sure it would even do any good to tell it.
