It remains a possibility, but honestly I don't know. Normal seismic activity is not usually associated with odd voids.

I almost got stuck in one yesterday. I just thought they were made of freaky paranormal shadow-mud,or something.

I don't know what they are, but a void is an absence of anything else, so it's a decent working definition until there is a greater understanding.

Although "freaky paranormal shadow-mud" is also sufficient.
