Ugh - the G.Rush group on Facebook is just getting too much... so much content all at once there's no way I can keep up with it.  Does anyone have time for that amount of stuff every couple of minutes?

I don't even think I can be bothered following it anymore, think I'll probably just UnLike it soon.  I hate stuff cluttering up my Facebook like ( Read more... )

I have to admit that I'm quite happy to see that I'm not the only one FB can disturb (in any ways !)

LJ is for me assurely my most "home sweet home". It's thanks to this and the community that I met some wonderful and unique persons, lived some amazing and magic moments...

Of course, Tumblr is full of pics never seen... but honestly, I don't wanna overdiversify and prefer to spend most of my time on LJ.
But I do understand the attraction of these new sites, especially for Rushies ! ;)

Yeah, exactly. LJ will always be the best! :D Tumblr is fun and I love Twitter... but at least I can only go on it when I want to or have time... unlike my personal Facebook page which is annoying when it gets clogged up with too much spam.... on the Facebook GR fanclub all they do is seem to RE-post things from other sites - there's nothing new! I don't wanna have to see things a million times! And when they repost photos from Twitter they always seem to be 'paparazzi'-type pictures :( There's nothing wrong with those every now and then but there's only so many times you need to see pics of Geoffrey using his phone or Geoffrey on the train - lol - I'm sure Geoffrey noticed they were taking his picture on their phone! Poor Geoffrey.

Same here, Cate, about Facebook! Although I've heard of Tumblr, of course, I still have no idea what it is. (Just what I need: another account to sign up for and another password to try to remember.)

OMG, taking pictures of celebrities on the train, on their phones, walking down the street, eating lunch ... makes me so glad I'm not a celebrity. A good reason to hate camera phones! I wonder if it bothers him? Hard to imagine it wouldn't bother anybody to have no privacy. Then again, at least he can ride the train without being mobbed. Some celebrities can't go out in public at all without a disguise, and still the paparazzi manage to find them. (Like Michelle Obama shopping at Target the other day. There's no escape!!!)

Too True. I only get postings from friends of FB else I can't keep up with anything or miss out on messages I care about.

I've only just signed up to the group so will see how long I last. I'm already falling out with the new lists system that's popped up on FB, tho, and I now seem to have updates from school friends and all sorts filling up my sidebar! I appreciate that we have more control over what updates we see and from whom, but at present there's too much clutter, as you rightly point out. I'll keep fiddling and see if I can't whip it back into shape... I've already given up on most of my FB games because they became too much bother.

But setting my Facebook language as English (pirate) is the funniest thing I've ever done. (Or at least I was in tears of laughter for quite a while! Heheh.) Especially when the poke on the opposite side-bar from one of my favourite gents became "Ye bin skewered!". *snorts* Well, I say... XD The Marquis would be proud!

haha that's hilarious! The Marquis would certainly get a kick out of it! I'll have to see if I can change mine... is it still an option or did I miss it?

It should still be an option - go to you account settings and check out the language drop-down menu. You can also have upside-down text if you want to be an extreme Australian. ;)

Oh wow, I'm so relieved to see I'm not the only person who's disillusioned with Facebook! Actually, I saw that you guys had joined that GR group, so I joined it, and at first I loved that I was getting updates sent straight to my e-mail so I didn't have to check every site on the web every time I get online without missing something. But you're right, after a while, I stopped having time even to open the e-mails cuz there were just too many of them pouring in like spam, and some of them, frankly, were a bit silly, like pasting your own face into a picture with him. Then again, some of us are lucky enough to have reason not to find the idea of actually meeting Geoffrey such a far-fetched fantasy. (Do you think maybe it's just a case of newbie fandom squee that will die down over time?) So I set a filter, and now I have them going directly into a folder instead of my inbox to open someday when I have some spare time. (Uh-huh. Like that day will ever come ( ... )

Agreeeeed. I don't like a chatty FB. I like to hit and run, keep up with out-of-state friends and fam. Don't need the constant churn. (still getting used to translating those fab pirate coloquialisms)

I was just saying last night how thankful I am not to be living my life through a device. On the internet, like on my cell phone (which does not have internet access), I only hit-and-run. If I try to use it for more than that, I find that I get frustrated and/or disappointed.

It's the best way to do it, that's for sure. I'm giving that group a few more days I think and then getting out of there... it's too distracting seeing as there's a new post every half-an-hour from the same one or two people. :/ Not sure where they get the time to post photos that regularly!? Facebook is complicated enough nowadays

LJ is great 'cause it's not cluttered like that - the GR community never has the same thing posted twice just for the hell of it; it's updates, news & new stuff and that's just the right amount.
