Ouch. Anyway, my prof was saying you may want to consider taking a cab from Ancona to Ascoli. It's about 110 Euro but you'd avoid the hassle. However, the trains are extremely easy to use (as far as I'm concerned). Just remember, once you buy you ticket, usually at a place with a "T" above it, you will have to validate it.
You do this by punching it at a yellow box. They are all over the platform. Be sure you do this or else you could face a serious fine.
You will probably go from Ancona to San Benedetto (spelling?) and from there to Ascoli Piceno. They'll probably kick you off at San Benedetto but just pay attenzione!
