The fourth test was successful. Living things are the next step, but I think that is just a technicality at this point.

Also, Captain? I was wondering if I could have permission to leave the ship? Off-duty, of course, and just for a few hours.

ic, everybody's working for the weekend, the idiot to your savant is showing, eris

How do those transporter things work, anyway?

Simply put? They dematerialize, transmit, and reassemble things. It is a very complex machine, and it is hard to explain in detail.

Makes sense! So it's just all messing around with quantum and stuff?

Something like that, yes. It is interesting, but I will be glad to be done.

What are you testing?

The transporters. I am trying to get them to work across dimensions.

Oh, wow! That's an awesome idea!

I am glad you think so. It will be practical, if nothing else. Well, assuming that the rest of the tests go fine.

Fourth test? Living things? Come again?

For the transporters. I am modifying them to work as a world hopping device.

Why is it that everyone in Rudolph's mama wants to world hop, eh?

I do not know, sir. We thought it best that we use our own equipment, however, and avoid any "magic."

I am glad to hear that you're making such quick progress.

I have a [favor/request/inquiry] to ask, if it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Spasiba. The error in calculations was very minor. It was fortunate.

It is no trouble. What do you need?

You're quite the bright mind, Pavel Andreievich Chekov, so any errors would most likely be minor for you.

When talking to your Captain about the likelyhood of being able to 'worldhop' using your new technological advances, could you stress the importance of not meddling with other universes? I have the unfortunate feeling that he is more than a little... the word 'triggerhappy' is not accurate, but it is the only word in my vocabulary of colloquial English that fits.

I am flattered that you think so, but the errors would seem minor to many people.

He is still bothering you then? I will speak with him about it, do not worry.
