Happy Thanksgiving to all. May turkey joy be in your hearts this season.
A lot has happened since my last post to livejournal. W was elected. Georgia, the country, became a terrorist threat (to russia). My next year's plans crumbled before my eyes. Alas. But I am thankful. I, a vegetarian, have turkey love.
Some of my professors and mentors have been calling for the impeachment of Bush. I don't know if it will happen, but the possibility gives me enough calm to sleep at night. Enough American politics. I am thankful that I live here and not somewhere awful like Angola or Chechnya.
I am back in Rocky Face enjoy time in my parent's guest bedroom. Its weird being in this place. When I go home, its like I walk away and zoom in simultaneously. I feel like I can see things up close but am detacted from it all. Going "home" always means revisiting the sad chorus of dalton "news." Another crack baby, divorce and carpet related criminal extravaganza. This afternoon I walked around the neighborhood and ended up sitting in the graveyard where I would escape to and read as a kid. Its an odd graveyard. There are pre-civil war gravestones juxtaposed with tacky newones. Some of the old graves have collapsed and walking on them is never a good idea. The neighbor child's foot one time sunk into an old grave. *Creepy*
Back to turkey love.... I am thankful for everyone in my life including my boyfriend, my family, my athenian friends, teachers, former lovers, townies and waterboys.
I will end on part of a Hanson song "where's the love"
Where's the right in, all of our fighting?
Look at what you're doing
Where's the love
It's not enough
It makes the world go 'round and 'round and...
Where's the love
Give it up
It makes the world go 'round and 'round and 'round
Can you tell me what you see whenever you look around?
We're tripping all over ourselves and pulling each other down
We're separating, consciousness is fading
Are you thinking that it's me you're fooling?
Where's the right in, all of our fighting?
Look at, look at, look at what we're doing
gobble, gobble
