Metro - becoming more than merely an annoyance

so in case you haven't heard, on Monday evening's rush hour commute, a Metro Yellow Line train left L'enfant Plaza and entered a tunnel which then became filled with smoke ... it took 40 minutes for emergency personnel to arrive and rescue the passengers from the train, still sitting in the tunnel with smoke, and led them to walk back to the L'

I had often thought that it was a minor miracle that more catastrophic things didn't happen. This is not terribly comforting.

Wow. That's appalling. They should totally be sued to pieces. I am not usually one to say such things, but they carry so many people every single day, and those people *trust* them with their lives. And they had no safety plan for such a simple thing? That's just criminal negligence, imo. And one person died, just for being present. And another 20 hospitalized? For shame, Metro! For far more than shame!!
