as a writer and former editor I feel that, yes, I have a pretty good grasp of the process. Why do you ask?

Indie press editing is a tough gig. I don't miss it.

There are bits I could giveaway tomorrow if anyone would take them, and bits that I still have the love for. I just feel that some stuff I'm doing is just not working.

Writers SHOULD know and care what editors do if they want to get anywhere. It would be like being a cook with no tastebuds if they didn't (yes, I watch too much Masterchef. Shush now, yeah?).

I'm not an editor, but I want to know what editors do! Of course I've read all the bullet points in the Australian job guide, searched on job sites and read editor's blogs to get an idea, but if I'm going into editing and then onto publishing, I'll need a better picture :P Part of which is doing postgrad in editing/publishing in maybe 2011, but I have tihs strange idea that study is nothing like the real thing.

Same uni degree for both positions, and I can't just immediately jump into Stephanie Smith's position without some experience in the industry ;)
