I must say that's part of the inspiration -- was hanging with two travelled pals and every place I suggested, one or the other had been. So I said, "How about Kosovo?" and there was silence. ditto for Sarajevo.

the one thing that everyone says is: stick to the roads/paths.

That would be a good plan.

It's only level 2 at DFAT, so not too dangerous:

Kosovo is a bit more dangerous.

There used to be some amazing Mediveal stuff in Sarajevo, but I don't know how it's weathered modern times. (By 'used to be' - 20 years ago people were talking about it as something special.)

Thanks. Picked up the Western Balkans edition on Saturday. I must say that the entry for Kosovo is a little on the short side, I guess not many folks have been there recently to comment.

I wonder if there is a separate volume for Kosovo, like they do for Paris? Though possibly not.

not AFIAK. it's a chapter in Western Balkans and in the Easter Europe books. I guess part of it is that not all the world recognises Kosovo, and it tends to get lumped in with Serbia -- though there doesn't even appear to be a separate volume for Serbia either.

It's funny, various guides have been saying that taxis are a rip-off from Sarajevo airport to the city, but it seems they only cost about $20...
