Current version of the "AFGHAN" Lexicon in Russian contains 570 entries. The authors of the dictionary are searching for publishers in Russia and abroad in the hope that their work will be of interest for slavists at the universities, professional translators and all those who speak Russian all over the world.
The "AFGHAN" Lexicon is a dictionary of the soldier slang, that original social group language spoken by soviet soldiers engaged in combat operations in Afghanistan in 1979-1989.
The temporal and local boundaries set to the present slang collection are supplemented through the kind of gathering: the vocabulary of soldier slang was selected from books about war. These are belles-letters, memoirs, soldier songs - all in written from while the original slang vocabulary exists within the spoken language. The slang vocabulary contains colloquial variants of military terms, oral expressions of the common military language. While being transliterated into the written form they depend on the skills of those who cloth the sounding word in letters - the reason of written doublets of one and the same slang word.
The construction of the entry article frame is an "Afghan" soldier slang word as the entry, its transliteration in Cyrillic alphabet, interpretation of the same in written Russian and English followed by one of several abstracts from published texts in Russian accompanied by references to the list of authors and publications.
